With the achievement and recognition MICRO CARS LTD gained in the transport industry,  the government of

Sri Lanka contracted with MICRO CARS LTD to design, prototype and manufacture the “Lanka Econo Rail”. It has further strengthened the governmental ties especially with the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and technology, Ministry of Industries and with His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka.

Following German Companies have agreed to provide technical assistance to the Lanka Econo Rail  manufacturing project.

ZF  - Technical assistance for the fully automatic, electronic, hydraulic transmission.

DEUTZ  - EURO 3 standard, Diesel engine with 400hp Turbo, Intercooler.

Research & Development...

The concept will attract new segments of the middle & upper middle class, as the LER concept will be a modern aerodynamically designed, comfortable, affordable mode of transportation.

Due to the rising cost of fuel and maintenance of the modern vehicles, the need for an alternative cost effective solutions are on the increase globally. The LER concept would ideally cater to this requirement in Sri Lanka.

The Micro MC-9 is designed and Manufactured by Micro Cars Ltd, with a single piece composite body built on a rollover-cage, fitted with a 1000 cc engine, 5 speed gearbox, Power Steering, Power Shutters and Central locks as standard equipment.
